Artificial intelligence (AI) is the ability of a computer program or a machine to think and learn. It is also a field of study which tries to make computers “smart”. They work on their own without being encoded with commands. John McCarthy came up with the name “artificial intelligence” in 1955.
However, even though artificial intelligence is referred to as AI in the media, there are different types of AI out there. These three types are artificial narrow intelligence (ANI), artificial general intelligence (AGI), and artificial super intelligence (ASI).
In 2018, a SurveyMonkey poll of the American public by USA Today found 68% thought the real current threat remains “human intelligence”; however, the poll also found that 43% said superintelligent AI, if it were to happen, would result in “more harm than good”, and 38% said it would do “equal amounts of harm and good”.
ASIMO is considered to be one of the most advanced AI Humanoid robots. The future of AI involves advanced cognitive systems capable of doing what machine learning systems can’t. They will intelligently and fluently interact with human experts, providing them with articulate explanations and answers, even at the edge of the network or in robotic devices.
